Training

What you'll learn

Everybody starts with the same basics. Then you build the part you came for, one on one, at your place.

Week one

Everybody starts with the basics

People come here for all kinds of reasons: a fight they want, a belt they want, someone who scared them, a doctor who told them to move. Week one looks the same for every one of them. Stance and distance. The jab. Getting back to your feet. The basics aren't the boring part before the real training; they're the part that keeps you safe once the real training starts.

Most rooms skip them, because twenty people on the mat and one coach means nobody sees your hands drop. One on one, there's nowhere to hide a bad habit. Rex watches every rep and fixes it in the round you got it wrong, not three months later when somebody catches you with it.

  • Stance and distance Where to stand so you can hit and not be hit
  • The jab and the cross The two punches everything else is built on
  • Takedown defense Staying on your feet when someone shoots
  • Getting back up Standing up safely when you're already down
  • Escaping the clinch Breaking a grip and making space
  • Frames and grips Controlling an arm, a wrist, a collar
  • Week one

Disciplines

Six ways in

Every one of these is a private session with Rex. You don't have to pick before you start, and you don't have to stick to one.

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

This is the thing Rex does best. Wrestling-first grappling: you learn to get hold of someone, get on top and finish from there, with no gi to grab and no belt to buy before you start. One on one, your grips and your hips get fixed in the round you get them wrong, not three months later.

Who it's for Complete beginners, wrestlers who want submissions, and anyone who wants to compete.

Muay Thai & Boxing

Rex still holds the pads himself, so every punch you throw gets corrected while your arm is still out there. You start with stance, footwork and the two punches everything else is built on, then add knees, elbows and the clinch when you can carry them. Nobody waits in line for a bag and nobody gets lost at the back of the room.

Who it's for Anyone starting from zero, and strikers who want bad habits cleaned up.

MMA & Fight Camp

If you want to fight, this is where you do the work. Striking, takedowns, cage position and a game plan built for the opponent actually in front of you, with sparring once you've earned it. Rex has trained more than half a dozen fighters who made The Ultimate Fighter and the UFC, and he'll tell you straight whether you're ready for a date.

Who it's for Amateur and pro fighters, and people serious about becoming one. By invitation.

Kids & Youth

Kids get discipline, confidence and somewhere loud to put all that energy. Rex keeps it safe and keeps it fun: no drilling a six-year-old into the ground, no putting your kid across from someone twice their size. Ages six and up, and a parent stays in the room the whole hour.

Who it's for Ages 6–12 and teens. Parent in the room, always.

Women Only

One coach, your session, nobody watching from the side of the mat. You learn to hit properly, to stay on your feet when someone grabs you, and to get out and get up if you end up on the ground. Bring a friend and train together if you'd rather not start on your own.

Who it's for Women only. One on one, or two friends who train together.

FightFit

Ropes, tires, sandbags and bag rounds: fighter conditioning without the fighting. You'll be sore, you'll get in shape, and you'll learn to throw a real punch on the way there instead of counting reps in front of a mirror. No sparring, no contact, no pressure to ever step in the cage.

Who it's for Anyone who wants fighting shape and has no interest in getting hit.
