Self-defense & MMA in Thousand Oaks

Private MMA and self-defense coaching in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and Oak Park, from the coach who trained Tony Ferguson.

Thousand Oaks has no shortage of gyms. What's hard to find is a coach with a record you can check: three black belts, twenty-five years, and fighters he trained who reached the UFC.

Rex brings that to your home in Newbury Park, Oak Park or anywhere in the Conejo Valley. Private sessions suit executives, parents and serious athletes who want real instruction without a crowded class.

The Conejo Valley is not short of options. There are studios on every second corner, franchise programs, trainers with an app and a monthly plan. What almost nobody here offers is somebody who has actually coached professional fighters and will drive to your house to do it one on one.

From Ventura it is about thirty five minutes down the 101 through Camarillo, so Thousand Oaks sessions get grouped on set days. Dos Vientos and the far side of Newbury Park add a few minutes on top. Oak Park, Lynn Ranch and the county side of Westlake are all covered. Most people here book a fixed weekly slot and hold on to it.

Space is rarely an issue. A three-car garage, a home gym that is mostly storage, a flat backyard, or an HOA fitness room down the street. Executives take early mornings before the commute. Parents book afternoons and train alongside their teenagers. Athletes from the local high schools add grappling and striking in the off season, when their own coaches are happy to see them doing something else.

Questions

Training in Thousand Oaks

How is this different from a class at a local gym?

It's one on one. Every rep gets coached, the plan is built around you, and the coach has a record you can look up. There's no class schedule to fit into.

Can Rex come to my office or my home gym?

Yes, as long as the space is yours to use. A garage, a home gym, an office with the desks pushed back, or an HOA fitness room. Rex brings mats and pads, works clean and quiet, and leaves the room how he found it.

Can my teenager and I train in the same session?

It is one of the better ways to do it here. Rex splits the hour, gives each of you your own work, and finishes with drills the two of you can run together during the week. Teenagers try harder when a parent is in it with them.
