Coach Rex & the gym

Why coach out of a truck instead of a room?

Because a truck full of mats reaches people a room never did. No drive, no crowd, no waiting for the one class you can actually make.

It started because the room closed. It carried on because it turned out to be better for most people.

Think about who never made it through the door of my gym. The woman who was not walking into a room full of men. The kid who freezes in a group. The guy working two jobs who cannot make a 6pm class in Ventura from Simi Valley. The person facing forty minutes of driving each way to train for an hour. The building filtered all of them out, and none of that had anything to do with whether they could learn.

Private also teaches faster, and that is not a sales line. In a class of twenty you might get thirty seconds of my eye. One on one, every rep is watched and every mistake gets fixed the same day instead of becoming a habit you spend a year undoing. You also train the way the material was meant to be trained, since self-defense in a garage and on a driveway looks a lot more like real life than a padded room with lines painted on it.

And it solves the nerves problem better than anything else, which is the quiet reason most people never start. No walking into a room, no back row, no strangers watching you be bad at something. See being nervous about a first session.

It also means the people in your life are part of it rather than shut out of it. Partners watch, kids sit on the step, friends end up holding pads. See who else can be around. Home is not the only option either: offices, building fitness rooms and clubhouses all work, which is how a lot of people fit an hour into a workday. See training at your office or your gym.

The truck carries mats, gloves and pads. You need a bit of space and nothing else. I cover ten Ventura County cities and the towns between them. See where sessions happen and how to book.
