What are women-only sessions?
Private sessions built for women: self-defense, no-gi, Muay Thai or conditioning, one on one with Rex, at your place and your pace.
Women-only training has been part of this gym for years. It was a class on the schedule at the downtown room, and while the new space is being built it runs the way everything else does now: private, one on one, wherever you are in Ventura County. No room full of men, nobody watching you learn, nobody twice your size handed to you as a partner on day one.
The content is up to you. Most women come for self-defense first, and the material has a natural order that I teach it in: distance, voice, grip breaks, staying on your feet, getting away. What a woman should learn first lays it out with the situations attached. Plenty then stay for the no-gi jiu-jitsu, the Muay Thai or the conditioning, because it turns out they like training.
You set the contact level and the pace, and you do not have to spar, ever. See whether you have to spar. If you are pregnant or coming back after a baby, that is a conversation with your doctor first and me second: training pregnant or postpartum.
Where it happens is yours to pick as well. Home is the usual answer, but women train in the gym their apartment building already has, or at the office before the drive home. See training at your office or your gym and what you can train.
