Which fighters has Rex trained?
Six reached The Ultimate Fighter and the UFC, Tony Ferguson furthest of all. Most of the people he coaches never fight at all.
Six men who trained with me went on to The Ultimate Fighter and the UFC: Tony Ferguson, Jeremy Jackson, Lodune Sincaid, Chris Beal, Jesse Newell and Joe Henle.
Tony took it furthest. He won The Ultimate Fighter 13, became UFC interim lightweight champion and put together the longest lightweight win streak the promotion has seen. I was part of his early work, not all of it, and I would rather say that plainly than let you assume more.
What the list is good for is one thing: it shows the coaching holds up at the top end. Six out of one Ventura gym is not luck.
What it is not is the main thing I do. The great majority of people I have coached in eighteen years never had a fight and never wanted one. Kids who needed somewhere to put the energy. Women who wanted to feel safe walking to the car. Men in their forties getting back in shape. Those sessions get the same attention as a fight camp.
The part of the fight experience you actually get on a normal Tuesday is the corner work and the honesty. Walking people out under lights teaches you what is worth saying and what is noise, and I use the same filter on a beginner in a garage. See what I do in your corner.
Behind the names sits the boring evidence: three black belts, teaching since 2007, eighteen years running the same company in the same county. See my credentials and the history of the gym. If you do want to compete, that road exists and I know every inch of it: the fighters page and going from a first class to a first fight.
