What if I lose my first one?
Then you lose one. You still did the thing almost nobody does. The debrief afterwards is worth more than the result on the night.
Then you lose one, and the world carries on.
Everybody who does this loses some. The fighters out of this gym who reached The Ultimate Fighter and the UFC lost on the way up. I turned pro at 42 and I have been on both ends of a decision.
It lands harder than you expect, so give it a few days before you decide anything.
The value is in the twenty honest minutes afterwards, and that is part of the corner job: what I do in your corner. One night does not move a line that gets drawn over months: how long before you actually get better. If the punches were the part you did not enjoy, a grappling bracket gives you the rest without them.
And I am not walking you out there to lose. If you are not ready you hear it before the entry form: Fight-Day Corner.
