Striking

Do I need to wrap my hands?

Once you are hitting hard or often, yes. Wraps hold the small bones and the wrist together. Rex will teach you the wrap in a session.

The glove protects the person you are hitting. The wrap protects you.

Your hand is a bag of small bones held together by not much, and the wrist has to stay straight under load. Most beginner hand injuries are a folded wrist, not a bruised knuckle.

Light mitt work, you can get away without. Hitting with intent, or rounds on a bag, wrap up. Snug, no gaps over the knuckles, fingers still pink.

I teach you my wrap and watch you do your own, because a wrap somebody else tied teaches you nothing. Buy gloves with a wrapped hand in mind: what gloves to buy, what gear I bring, and keeping your gear from stinking. Wraps go rank fast.
