Gear & prep

Do I need a mouthguard?

Not for your first session. Buy one before any contact work, and never share one. Boil and bite is fine, a dentist can do better.

Not on day one. Your first sessions are technique and I bring what you need.

Before any contact work, yes. Buy your own, never share it, and a boil-and-bite moulded properly at home does the job for most people. Braces or dental work, ask your dentist first. Contact starts later than you think and only when you want it: see what rolling is and whether you have to spar. Competing, the event sets its own rules and I read those with you. See first match prep.

Rinse it, dry it, vented case. See keeping your gear clean and what I bring.
